Prithviraj Sukumaran is a famous actor, whose film, Sarzameen, featuring Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan, is streaming on the OTT platform Jio Hotstar. While the film revolves around nation, family and righteousness, Prithviraj played a strong father, and an Army officer. Talking about his personal life, not many know that he is married to a once-famous journalist, Supriya Menon.
Who is Prithviraj Sukumaran’s wife, Supriya Menon?
For the unversed, Supriya Menon was once a famous journalist, who worked with BBC India in Mumbai. Currently, she works as a producer and has co-founded a production house with her husband, which she named Prithviraj Productions. Apart from her professional highs, she is also a loving mother to their daughter.
Supriya Menon left her highly successful journalist job after marriage
Supriya was working as a journalist in Mumbai. The couple got married on April 25, 2011, after dating for four years. The couple is also blessed with a daughter. However, the only problem was that she was a successful journalist in Mumbai, and marrying Prithviraj required her to move her base to Kerala, as he was a famous Malayalam actor. However, Supriya didn’t think twice about the big change as she valued Prithvi’s support during her time in Mumbai. Recalling her thought process at that point in time, Supriya had once mentioned:
“I decided to marry Prithvi who walked with me and not the star.”
While Supriya doesn’t talk much about the decision of giving up her career for marriage, her husband, Prithviraj, never fails to admire her. He always mentions that he is indebted to Supriya for giving up something which was extremely important in her life. She decided to live in Kerala with him, and it was due to her support that he is the shining star of the film industry. He said:
“Supriya gave up her job and city to live with me in Kerala. I owe my wife a lot. I don’t think I would be what I am today without her support.”

Supriya Menon met Prithviraj Sukumaran due to her work
Supriya Menon was working as a journalist when her editor assigned her to cover Malayali cinema, as she was a Malayali. However, she had no knowledge of regional cinema, except for knowing famous actors like Mammootty and Mohanlal. So, a colleague came to her rescue and gave her a number of young actors from Malayali cinema. And the person was Prithviraj. In a talk session during the TiE Kerala Women Conference in Kochi, Supriya shared details of her first meeting with Prithviraj and mentioned:
“But a fellow journalist came to my rescue. She handed me the number of a young actor and told me to contact him saying that he would probably be able to help me. That one phone call changed the course of my life. You see, my friend had given an introduction to my future husband, Prithviraj Sukumaran.”
Talking about Supriya, her husband, Prithviraj, once revealed that she is a Malayali but has spent most of her life in Mumbai, and he was able to see the real Mumbai through her eyes. He was able to visit the places described in the novel, Shantaram. In an interview with The Times of India, Prithviraj said:
“Though Supriya is a Malayali, she has spent the most of her life in Mumbai. She’s a Mumbai girl. In fact, I saw the real Mumbai through Supriya’s eyes. But it was Supriya who showed me the sides of Mumbai I had never seen. I wanted to see all the places described in the novel Shantaram like Haji Ali and the Leopold Cafe. Supriya was a friend. I asked her to take me to all these places. Thus, I was in Mumbai and Supriya took over my life for the next few weeks.”
Well, Prithviraj and Supriya’s life is no less than a film’s tale.
