Her content was loved for its creativity, relatability factor, and her breakthrough moment was at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, where she walked in her creation. Now, the fashion influencer is being talked about for selling one of her creations reportedly for Rs. 70,000.

A post on Reddit has gone viral where Nancy was seen selling one of her outfits for Rs. 70,000, which created a huge stir. Nancy has been hard-working and talented with a down-to-earth, self-made personality. However, it seems like her self-made personality at the moment is not being loved as Nancy reportedly sold off her outfit for Rs. 70,000. One Redditor commented, “Yeh fungus wala capsicum jaisa outfit kharid kon raha waise?” Another user shared, “Nahi yeh toh inverted broccoli hai. She can sell it for 75k kyunki ye uski mummy ka favourite colour hai.”
One user even shared that it was not a unique dress and shared a snap of a reference image, writing, “And it’s not even an original design. If you reverse image search this, it’s a very popular design from Pinterest.” While many called Nancy a talented seamstress, critics did not like the idea of calling her a designer as she lacked originality as well as the education.

Singer, Neha Bhasin, had taken to her Instagram Stories where she accused Nancy of making a false claim that she stitched her outfits when she appeared for the second time at the Cannes Film Festival. Neha shared an image of a similar attire she had worn at one of her performances in the past. Neha, via her stories, did reveal that it was not illegal for Nancy to make a dress for her own. The singer indirectly shared that Nancy was, in a way, selling out stolen designs and then earning money from them. She did the same at Cannes 2025, reportedly and tried passing the attire as her own. She shared stories on her Instagram and wrote:
“This corset looks too familiar, hmmmm. Just wondering. Same Same.”
When a stylist named, Surbhi Gupta claimed Nancy Tyagi steals designs
Surbhi is the stylist and founder of The Source Bombay, and earlier, in an interview with The Source Bombay, shared that her Cannes outfit was actually taken from their store. Surbhi shared Nancy making the claim that she stitched her outfit on her own, but she found no truth in the statement. Surbhi shared that Nancy purchased her Cannes outfit for Rs. 25,000 and said:
“She purchased it, so she’s free to do what she wants with it. But it is our design. We didn’t do a barter or a collaboration. She did not stitch it herself, which she claims she did. The cape she wore doesn’t belong to me… that’s something she seems to have made herself, I guess.”
