NEW DELHI: The Congress’ Puducherry unit on Wednesday accused the Union territory’s NDA government of “rampant corruption” and demanded a judiciary probe.It alleged that in the last four years, temple properties were “grabbed” by MLAs from the constituent parties of the NDA alliance, and bribes worth crores of rupees were taken to issue the Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) licences.Addressing a press conference here along with former Puducherry chief minister V Narayanasami, Pradesh Congress committee president V Vaithilingam said, “The BJP says that they are the saviours of Hindu temples. But look at what is happening in Puducherry, where their MLAs are after temple properties.” There was no immediate reaction from the UT government over the allegations.The Congress leaders alleged that huge bribes were being paid to obtain IMFL manufacturing licences and referred a BJP MLA’s revelation in the assembly that Rs 12 crore was paid for a single licence.The Puducherry PCC leaders demanded a judicial probe into all the “corruption scandals” and the instances “temple land grabbing by leaders of the All India N.R. Congress and BJP”.Earlier, they met leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and brought the issues to his notice.
