The chilling Meghalaya honeymoon murder involving Indore residents, the victim, Raja Raghuvanshi and the main accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi, his wife, had sent shock waves throughout the nation. For the unversed, the Indore couple went missing, and later Raja was found dead on June 2, 2025. Police took his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi and her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha and the other three accused into custody on June 26, 2025. Sonam Raghuvanshi’s daily routine in jail
Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, has already spent one month in Shillong jail along with other female prisoners. According to multiple reports, Sonam shows no regret for what she did to her husband and also claimed that no one from her family has visited her till now. A source told NDTV that Sonam has gelled well with the other inmates and wakes up every morning at the same time. She duly follows the jail manual and keeps everything to herself. Sonam doesn’t speak to any of her fellow prisoners or the jail administration and doesn’t discuss the crime she allegedly committed or her personal life. Currently, she is staying in a cell near the jail warden’s office and is sharing the space with two under-trial women prisoners.
What facilities does Sonam Raghuvanshi have in custody?
The source told NDTV that Sonam has the facility to watch TV every day and is also allowed to meet and talk with her family members, but no one from her family has visited her to date. The source also shared that Sonam has not been assigned any work in jail at the moment, but she will be taught sewing and other skills for development. According to a report by NDTV, the Shillong jail currently has 498 prisoners lodged, of whom 20 are women. Out of the 20 women, Sonam is the second female prisoner who is accused of murder.

Raja tied the knot with Sonam on May 11, 2025. Within just nine days, the newlyweds decided to go on their honeymoon. It was Sonam who planned the trip to Meghalaya with a one-way ticket. The Indore couple set out for their honeymoon on May 20, 2025, but the duo went missing on May 23, 2025. However, at first it seemed like the couple had been kidnapped, but in a shocking turn of events, Raja was found dead in a gorge on June 2, 2025. After Raja’s body was discovered, police searched for his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who was still missing. On June 8, 2025, police found a trace of Sonam in a dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
After Sonam was arrested by police in connection with the murder of her husband, Raja, multiple angles came up. According to multiple reports, Sonam was not happy with her marriage to Raja and also had an affair with Raj Kushwaha, who worked in the same office where Sonam worked. However, current reports claim that Sonam’s family members have cut off all ties with her and are standing beside Raja’s family, hoping for justice to prevail. On the other hand, the victim’s family said that these are false claims as Sonam’s family has a secret connection with her.
