Puma and K-pop star Rosé have unveiled a fresh summery colorway of the Speedcat sneaker in a new campaign. Continuing her relationship with the athletic brand, the Blackpink member now models a blue and orange colorway of the trendy sneaker set for release on Thursday.

This iteration of the low-profile sneaker, which was first created for race car drivers and then released as a lifestyle shoe in 1999, features a bright orange Formstrip against an ultra light blue backdrop. Rosé, who has also supported the brand’s H-Street sneaker this year at a launch event in Seoul, modeled the shoes with a sporty black ensemble and a matching miniature blue purse.
A description of the campaign reads in part, “In her latest visuals with Puma, Rosé and the Speedcat sit in stillness, harnessing idle speed and ready to ignite. With each frame, tension builds as the Speedcat, ready to accelerate, is backdropped by the untamed power of a rumbling engine and blazing-red muscle on four wheels.”

Rosé and fellow pop star Dua Lipa first served as the faces of the Speedcat in 2024, the year the style was rereleased. Dubbed the “hottest sneaker in the world” by Lyst in October, the relaunch of the Speedcat was celebrated at an event in Milan in December, featuring celebrity guests such as Dua Lipa and Emily Ratajkowski.

Puma is often reimagining the Speedcat sneaker — A$AP Rocky’s AWGE show in Paris last month showcased a pre-distressed collaborative version of the shoe and, in a similar vein, a “Destroyed” version was included in a recent collaboration with Balenciaga. Not to mention, Puma became a part of the hybrid ballerina sneaker trend with its Speedcat Ballet option as well, which launched this year.
While low-profile sneakers are in style right now, they can be detrimental to your foot health. Board-certified podiatrist and surgeon Dr. Zach Thomas offered insight on the matter.
“If you want to wear a Samba, if you want to wear a Speedcat or god knows what else, go for it,” he said. “It’s not going to kill you, but throw an orthotic in there, and it’s going to help you so much more.”
