After the emotionally resonant title track ‘Bas Ek Dhadak’, the makers of Dhadak 2 have released a new song titled ‘Preet Re’, offering audiences another glimpse into the romantic world of the upcoming film. Featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, the track captures the essence of young love—simple, sincere, and soulful.

‘Preet Re’ explores the tenderness and excitement of falling in love for the first time. The music video reflects everyday romantic moments with light-hearted visuals that mirror relatable experiences of affection and connection. With lyrics like ‘Dhadkan yeh hi kehti hai, dil mein tu hi rehti hai’, the song builds on the emotional narrative set by the original Dhadak, while also giving it a fresh, modern spin.
The song has been composed by Rochak Kohli, with lyrics by Gurpreet Saini, and is sung by Darshan Raval, Jonita Gandhi, and Kohli himself. The melody strikes a balance between simplicity and depth, creating a track that resonates with both younger audiences and fans of the original film.
Speaking about the track, Darshan Raval shared, “‘Preet Re’ is not just a melody, it’s a feeling. It’s about that quiet, beautiful moment when you realise someone means the world to you. It was an incredible experience working on the song.” Singer Jonita Gandhi added, “There’s an innocence to first love, and that’s what we’ve tried to bring alive with this song. I hope listeners feel as connected to it as we felt while singing.”
Composer Rochak Kohli reflected on the song’s intent, stating, “With ‘Preet Re’, I wanted to blend simplicity with sincerity. It’s a song that celebrates pure, honest love without trying too hard – just like first love itself. I am overjoyed with how it has turned out to be.”
Directed by Shazia Iqbal and backed by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, Dhadak 2 is produced by Karan Johar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra, and Pragati Deshmukh. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on August 1, 2025.
