Noida schools for Classes 1 to 12 to stay shut on July 23 for Kanwar Yatra

In Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) district, all schools from Class 1 to 12 will remain closed on July 23, 2025, as authorities prepare for the annual Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage. In line with administrative orders, only online classes are allowed for a few schools, while schools resumed regular operation from July 24.

    PILGRIMAGE DISRUPTS ROUTINE

The Kanwar Yatra, a major Hindu procession held from July 11 to 23, draws large numbers of devotees, creating traffic congestion and crowd challenges across Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh.

While physical classes were paused, some schools are offering virtual lessons for July 23 in Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida).

This allowed students to continue learning without disruption. All parents were informed via official channels and encouraged to monitor online schedules closely.

District officials said the yatra would lead to high footfall on major roads, posing risks for children and complicating school bus routes.

Closing institutions helped prevent students from being caught in traffic and ensured smoother pilgrim movement

    REACTIONS FROM PARENTS AND EDUCATORS

Local teachers and parents supported the decision, citing safety as the main concern. Several felt that online classes provided a reasonable alternative during the disruption.

Many suggested that better timing and planning could reduce academic downtime in future editions.
