ZEE5’s The Bhootnii, which premiered on 18th July 2025, sees Sanjay Dutt in a refreshing new role — that of a ghostbuster blending grit with a touch of humour. Sanjay Dutt opens up on choosing The Bhootnii; says, “It drew me into its world right from the first page”
Speaking about his experience facing off against a Bhootnii, Sanjay Dutt shared, “It wasn’t very different. We’re actors, and the goal is always to portray any role convincingly. Whatever the character, it must be played with authenticity. I approached this film just like any of my other projects, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing this part.”
Reflecting on the tone of the film, he added, “I think horror-comedy as a genre has always had a loyal following. If the story can make you laugh and scare you at the same time, it becomes a complete entertainer. In that sense, Bhootnii belongs to that tradition. It’s a modern film, but its roots lie in the classic horror-comedies we all remember fondly.”
On what made him say yes to the project, Dutt said, “It was a fantastic script — packed with all the elements of a truly entertaining film. Audiences enjoy a story most when everything comes together seamlessly. The script of Bhootnii did exactly that — it drew me into its world right from the first page.”
With an ensemble cast, clever storytelling, and just the right mix of chills and chuckles, The Bhootnii is now streaming exclusively on ZEE5.
