NEW DELHI: The main accused has been detained in Bihar’s Paras hospital murder case, where five gunmen walked into the room and shot a man who was undergoing treatment.Bihar police announced that in a joint operation with Kolkata police and STF, they arrested the main accused, Taushif alias Badshah. Along with this, Nishu Khan and 2 others have also been detained.CCTV cameras at the hospital showed the gangsters pulling out their guns, loading the weapons, opening the cabin’s door and then escaping. They killed Chandan Mishra.In a statement, released by the Bihar police, the team said that they conducted a thorough investigation on technical analysis, observed CCTV footage, collected human intelligence and all other possible points.“In this sequence, in a joint operation, with the help of Kolkata Police and Kolkata STF, the main accused Taushif alias Badshah has been arrested from Kolkata. Along with this, Nishu Khan and 02 others have also been arrested,” the statement read. “Initial investigation has revealed that the conspiracy to commit this murder was hatched at Nishu Khan’s residence and the incident was mainly carried out by Taushif alias Badshah,” it added.The police said that the interrogation of other suspects is also going on in connection with the incident. Action is being taken to bring all the detained accused to Patna under due process of law.A spate of high-profile killings in Bihar has ignited a political war of words as the state heads into election season. In recent weeks, prominent figures—including businessman Gopal Khemka, BJP leader Surendra Kewat, and lawyer Jitendra Mahato—have been gunned down in separate incidents, raising serious concerns about the deteriorating law and order. With the polls just months away, the murders have become a flashpoint between the ruling JDU-BJP coalition and the Opposition RJD, which has accused the government of failing to rein in spiraling crime. The ruling alliance, meanwhile, has blamed “politicisation” for stoking fear, even as public anxiety grows over safety and accountability.
