Veteran filmmaker Chandra Barot, best known for directing Amitabh Bachchan’s cult classic ‘Don’ (1978), died on Sunday at the age of 86 after a prolonged illness.
Barot had been battling pulmonary fibrosis along with other age-related health complications. His contribution to Hindi cinema, particularly with ‘Don’, remains iconic, with the film continuing to inspire remakes and adaptations decades later.
Farhan Akhtar and Kunal Kohli, among others, shared a post on Instagram, paying heartfelt tributes to the late filmmaker. Farhan’s post read, “Saddened to learn that the director of the OG Don is no more. RIP Chandra Barot-ji. Deepest condolences to the family (sic).”
