Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday.

While officially termed a courtesy call, the meetings have sparked speculation about political undercurrents within the party with UP leadership dynamics in focus.

Key discussions reportedly included the appointment of the new Uttar Pradesh BJP president and preparations for the 2027 assembly elections.

PM Modi’s scheduled visit to Varanasi in August also featured in the talks. On Sunday, Yogi is set to participate in religious festivities in Meerut, including showering flower petals on Kawadias — a move seen as outreach to Hindu voters, sources said.

Yogi’s visit comes at a time when there are murmurs of a leadership change in Uttar Pradesh. Some believe that his trip was intended to reinforce his standing within the party amid growing speculation that his position could be under review.

These talks gained momentum after Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya met Amit Shah recently to reportedly discuss poll strategies.

Maurya, an OBC leader, is being described in political circles as a possible contender for the chief ministerial post in UP.

The BJP is placing a renewed focus on OBC, Dalit, and backward classes in the state ahead of the elections, and a leadership reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh could signal the party’s intent to strengthen its social base.

Despite the buzz, no official announcement has been made by the BJP leadership regarding any change in the state’s top post.

Yogi Adityanath remains a key figure in the party’s UP strategy, and his meetings in Delhi are being closely watched for signs of what lies ahead in the politically crucial state.
