A man accused of molestation was beaten up and publicly humiliated by locals in West Bengal’s Hooghly district on Friday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place at the ticket counter, where people were standing in a queue to buy train tickets. A youth allegedly entered the ticket counter area and tried to molest a woman. Locals claimed he was caught red-handed in the act.
Enraged by the incident, people present at the spot thrashed the accused. They further humiliated him by breaking rotten eggs on his head, smearing cow dung on his face, and tying a garland of shoes around his neck before handing him over to the police.
The man was arrested by police following the incident.
