Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi immensely for the electoral success that the BJP has enjoyed since 2014, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said that if it wasn’t for him, the party would not be in such a strong position that it is in today.
Dubey opined that it was PM Modi’s charisma and political appeal that impressed a large section of voters, who otherwise might not have voted for the BJP.
Highlighting the impact of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the BJP MP from Jharkhand’s Godda said that the party heavily depends on its star face for achieving decisive success in various elections.
“Today, Modiji has become the prime minister for the third time. If Modiji is not our leader, the BJP may not even win 150 seats,” Nishikant Dubey said in an interview with news agency ANI while speaking about the party’s success in the last few Lok Sabha polls.
Under PM Modi’s leadership, the BJP-led NDA alliance formed the government at the Centre for the third consecutive time in 2024, winning 240 seats alone. The party registered victory with a clear majority on its own in 2014 and 2019, when it won 282 and 303 Lok Sabha seats respectively.
“When Modiji came, the votebank that never belonged to the BJP, especially among the poor, shifted towards the party due to their faith in him. Some may like it, some may not, but it’s a reality,” he added.
The firebrand MP, who is known for his fiery and no-holds-barred speeches in the House, further emphasised that it is the BJP’s compulsion to contest the next Lok Sabha polls (2029) under the leadership of PM Modi only, saying, “The BJP needs Modiji. As a party worker, I believe that we need Modiji’s leadership”.
He asserted that his remarks should not be taken otherwise, saying they were just a reflection of the reality on the ground. He said that PM Modi’s name alone fetching the party crucial votes is a testament to his leadership quality and the people’s faith in him.
“As long as his body permits, we will need his leadership to achieve our goal of a developed India by 2047,” Dubey hoped.
Nishikant Dubey also brushed aside Rashtraiya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent remarks about BJP leaders retiring after the age of 75, and said that there is no need for PM Modi to do so.
Ever since, PM Modi has assumed power in the Centre and became the BJP’s primary face across the country.
The party has won three consecutive Lok Sabha elections, in addition to several Assembly elections. The party has also been able to make a mark in states where it virtually had no presence.
