NEW DELHI: External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Friday welcomed the United States’ decision to designate The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). TRF, a proxy of the banned Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, was behind the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians. In a post on X, Jaishankar called the move a strong show of India-US counter-terrorism cooperation. He thanked US Secretary Marco Rubio and the State Department for the action against TRF and said the group had openly claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.“Zero tolerance for terrorism. Operation Sindoor,” he added. The Pahalgam attack was the deadliest assault on civilians in Kashmir in recent years, and the US decision is seen as a strong message against cross-border terrorism.
