NEW DELHI: With 94.7% of Bihar’s 7.9 crore electors covered as regards collection of enumeration forms — after accounting for 4.7% electors not found at their addresses so far, including 6,978 ‘untraceable’ electors — the Election Commission on Friday said political parties and public will have a month’s time to seek correction and propose inclusion of any left-out names after the draft electoral roll is published on August 1, 2025.“For this, printed and digital copies of the draft electoral roll will be given to the recognised political parties free of cost and will be posted on the ECI website for the public. Therefore, the public may remain assured that no eligible elector will be left out,” EC said in a statement. The poll panel on Friday said that just 5.2%, or a little over 41 lakh electors, are yet to turn in their enumeration forms. Over 7.1 crore electors have submitted their forms and over 6.8 crore forms (86.8%) have been digitised.Of the 36.8 lakh electors (4.7%) not found at their addresses so far, 12.7 lakh (1.6%) are probably deceased; 18.2 lakh (2.3%) probably permanently shifted; 5.9 lakh (2.3%) identified as enrolled at multiple places; and 6,978 (0.01%) “not traceable”. The lists of such electors are now being shared with district presidents and booth level agents of political parties to ascertain their status. Each of the 1.5 lakh BLAs appointed by the parties can submit up to 50 forms a day. “This step is in line with the ECI’s commitment that no eligible elector is left out,” an EC spokesperson said. The final electoral roll to be published on September 30 following disposal of claims and objections, will be given free of cost to all the recognised parties and published on EC website. Appeals can be filed by those still aggrieved, first with the district magistrate and then with the chief electoral officer.
