    Amitabh Bachchan Becomes India’s Highest-Paid TV Host KBC 17, Beats Salman Khan’s Big Boss Pay

    The legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan is set to host the much-loved quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) for its 17th season, which is scheduled to premiere on August 11, 2025. The news has sparked buzz not only for the return of Big B in his beloved role as the quiz host, but also for the massive fee that he is getting for the new season. It is a rate that has officially crowned him as the richest TV host in India. 

    Amitabh Bachchan returns as the Kaun Banega Crorepati, Season 17 host

    Amitabh Bachchan, who has been a constant part of the show KBC and has hosted it since 2000, except for Season 3, where he wasn’t present and Shah Rukh Khan filled his place as the host, will once again take the hot seat in Season 17. The premiere for Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17 is scheduled for August 11, 2025, and the show will air from Monday to Friday at 9 PM on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV. Fans are excited to relive the emotional, and intellectually stimulating moments that KBC is famously known to offer it’s viewers.

    Amitabh Bachchan will take Rs. 5 crore per episode for Kaun Banega Crorepati, Season 17

    According to reports, Amitabh Bachchan will earn Rs. 5 crore per episode, with five episodes a week, comes up to a total of around Rs. 25 crore in weekly earnings for his appearance in Kaun Banega Crorepati. This high pay reportedly makes him the highest-paid television host in India. His salary surpasses that of Salman Khan, who earned Rs. 12 crore for each Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss OTT 2, but he shot only two episodes per week.

    Amitabh Bachchan is not leaving Kaun Banega Crorepati

    Earlier this year, many news outlets speculated that Amitabh might step aside as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati for personal reasons and that Salman Khan could replace him. Fans were disappointed and believed the show wouldn’t be the same without him. To everyone’s relief, Sony and Bachchan himself firmly debunked those rumours. He officially resumed KBC preparations in July, sharing rehearsal photos on his blog with the message ‘Shuru kar diya kaam‘, putting an end to talk of replacements.

    Sony TV released the first promo for Kaun Banega Crorepati, Season 17, on April 4, 2025. This cinematic approach and him alluding to one of his old masterpieces, along with his official return, energised the audience and reinforced Amitabh’s ever-enduring connection with his viewers.
