Taraji P. Henson remained loyal to René Caovilla‘s shoe designs for Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala” at Gotham Hall in New York on Wednesday.
Henson has proven to be a fan of the luxury footwear brand, having worn its products to a long list of events over the years. The actress supported the rapper’s event and attended wearing Caovilla’s popular and beloved Cleo sandal.

The Cleo is one of René Caovilla’s most popular and recognizable designs. Henson opted for a pair in black satin with a slightly flared heel and a square toe, with two straps across the foot. The style also features the rhinestone-embellished serpent that wraps around the ankle and the brand’s stardust sole that adds sparkle to the “Straw” star’s all-black look. The shoe’s heel height measures approximately four inches, but a shorter three-inch version is also available. The actress’ style is available for $1,780.
The glamorous high heels paired perfectly with her all-black ensemble designed by Rahul Mishra. The actress wore a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline, accompanied by a matching choker and sheer gloves.

Henson has a penchant for glamorous looks and heels whenever she steps out on a red carpet. She wore a white Gaurav Gupta gown with René Caovilla’s white crystal-embellished Cleo sandals to attend the amfAR Gala Cannes 2025. She also wore another shoe style from the designer when she popped on a pair of fuchsia Caovilla’s Martha Sandals and a blue blazer dress for Essence’s 2025 Black Women in Hollywood Awards in February.
The René Cleo sandals have been a favorite among celebrities for years, and stars such as Karol G, Keke Palmer, Kandi Burruss, Saweetie, and Victoria Justice have been spotted wearing the shoes recently. In 1968, Caovilla was inspired after visiting the Archaeological Museum in Naples and transformed a Roman snake bracelet into the Cleo design.

The shoe has since been displayed at the MoMA in New York and celebrated as a modern shoe icon, becoming a staple for the maison. The brand celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Cleo in 2023, since the style was first released to the public in 1973.
René Caovilla officially started in 1934. The company’s launch was inspired by the Caovilla family’s shoemaking legacy with Edoardo Caovilla starting a workshop in 1923.
