The rumours around Ronit Roy being the new ‘Vanraj Shah’ in Anupamaa have been rife for a while now. The role was previously played by Sudhanshu Pandey, who left the show in August 2024, leaving the fans extremely heartbroken. Now, Ronit has reacted to the speculations during a conversation with Telly Chakkar.
Rupali Ganguly’s Anupamaa has been facing a slump in ratings. The show was once a soaring leader in TRP, but several changes have led to a decline in viewership. Amid that, reports have surfaced that the makers are considering introducing new characters and plotlines in a bid to revive the show’s popularity and boost its ratings. Well, Ronit has now reacted to the buzz surrounding his joining the popular show, and reprising the role Sudhanshu played for four years, which has made the audience genuinely dislike the character. He was quoted as saying:
“I’m not doing Anupamaa – the news is completely false, and I won’t be playing Vanraj.”

A source close to the show, Anupamaa, also refuted the rumours. They revealed that there have been no new developments regarding the return of ‘Vanraj Shah’ to the show. The source also clarified in a conversation with Mid-Day that the speculations about Ronit reprising the role are not true either. The source was quoted as saying:
“There haven’t been any developments regarding Vanraj on the show. These are just speculations, and there is nothing true about them. Ronit Roy has also shared with various media portals that he isn’t doing the show; the speculations regarding his entry in Anupamaa are completely false.”
The speculations around Ronit Roy joining the show began circling the media when a report by News18 claimed that Ronit will be joining the team. The speculations came after Sudhanshu had exited the show, leaving the character absent from the screen. While the cast has been changed completely, the audience still misses the hot and cold relationship between ‘Anupamaa’ and ‘Mr Shah’.
