Filmmaker Mohit Suri, best known for directing the romantic hit ‘Aashiqui 2’, has addressed the much-anticipated question of whether he will return to direct ‘Aashiqui 3’. He shared that he has not been approached by the producers to helm the third instalment of the franchise.
In a recent interview with Filmygyan, Suri said, “I think you need to ask the producers. They don’t want to employ me.”
“I would love to make a film with this lead, but I have to find a good script. ‘Aashiqui’ ka burden mere sir pe gir raha hai (The burden of ‘Aashiqui’ has fallen on my shoulders), I need to find a script that is better than it. It is difficult,” he added, pointing to the creative pressure of living up to the emotional impact and success of ‘Aashiqui 2’.
The 2013-film ‘Aashiqui 2’, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, was a modern Bollywood romance movie. It not only became a box-office blockbuster but also gave audiences one of the most loved soundtracks of the decade. The lead pair’s chemistry sparked both on-screen magic and off-screen speculation, making them fan favourites.
Meanwhile, Mohit is currently focused on promoting his latest film ‘Saiyaara’, produced by Yash Raj Films. The romantic drama introduces fresh talents Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in a soulful love story backed by music from Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami. Ahaan plays Krish, an aspiring singer, while Aneet plays a passionate songwriter. The trailer has already received positive reactions from fans and industry peers, including ‘Aashiqui 2’ stars Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur.
‘Saiyaara’ is slated for release on July 18.
