Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna’s friendship “breaking point” is revealed in a forthcoming book about the Goop founder, titled “Gwyneth: The Biography.”
“Their relationship reached a breaking point when Madonna showed up to an island where Gwyneth and [Chris] Martin were vacationing,” author Amy Odell alleges in the book set to be released on July 29, per People.
“Madonna seemed to know that Gwyneth would be there, which Gwyneth seemed to find strange,” a friend told the writer.
According to Odell, the “Material Girl” songstress, 66, insisted that the couple, who were married from 2003 to 2016, join her for dinner.
At the dinner table, Madonna allegedly “went off on her daughter Lourdes,” making Paltrow, 52, and Martin, 48, “disgusted by [her] behavior.”
“I can’t be around this woman anymore,” the Coldplay frontman allegedly told his then-wife. “She’s awful.”
The “Iron Man” star allegedly agreed with Martin and cut ties with Madonna.
Reps for the trio weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
Paltrow and the “Popular” singer’s friendship started in the 1990s, and the two publicly gushed over each other, leading up to their alleged downfall.
“Everything I have gone through, she went through ten times worse and ten times longer,” Paltrow shared in 2006, per Us Weekly. “She gives me good advice about how to say no and take care of myself.”
In 2009, an insider told Page Six that the Marvel star was moving away from her relationship and spending more time on double dates with Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
“Gwyneth’s kids call him ‘Uncle Jay,’ and she and Chris were special guests at Jay-Z’s wedding,” an insider told us, referring to Paltrow and Martin’s children: Apple, 21, and Moses, 19.
In 2010, a source told Us Weekly that Madonna and Paltrow “don’t speak” anymore, though no further details were disclosed.
That same year, the actress confirmed via an interview that her personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, no longer worked with Madonna.
They haven’t been photographed together since.
