As Gurugram struggled with waterlogging after days of heavy rain, one local decided to take matters, and humour, into his own hands.

In a now-viral Reddit post titled “Onboard my Thousand Sunny”, a Gurugram resident uploaded a video of his car navigating through a severely flooded street. The caption read, “Well, hop on my ship and be a part of the crew!! Let’s sail through Gurgaon to find the One Piece.”

For those wondering, Thousand Sunny is the name of a fictional ship from the One Piece anime series, a bright, cheerful vessel known for its adventures through countless seas. And this clip seemed no less dramatic.

The video showed the man slowly driving through knee-deep water, as waves slapped against his car’s windscreen, especially when a van passed by. At one point, the submerged road genuinely looked like a canal, and his car like a barely-floating boat.

Reddit users turned the comments section, unsurprisingly, into a full-fledged comedy club. “Bruh. You might get lost without the Eternal Pose to your home,” a user quipped, referencing a navigation tool from the anime.

The original poster replied, “Well rescue me then, I’m sure you and I are part of some alliance.”

Another user added, “Looks like you made it to Water Seven,” while one user asked, “Where is this?” To which the OP responded, “Somewhere along the villages of Fazilpur Jharsa.”

One of the users took a dig at civic apathy: “Are India ke Venice aaye ho, toh boat use karni chahiye. Phir government ko blame karoge ki car kharab ho gayi.”

Others played along: “Why are you driving in the ocean? That lahar was epic.” “Which river?”

“The great Fazilpur River,” the OP replied. “Hope the car survives! Dekh kar dukh hua,” a user sighed.

Since last week, Gurugram and several parts of Delhi-NCR have been reeling from relentless rain. The downpour has caused heavy waterlogging, resulting in traffic jams and widespread disruption.
