A wedding celebration in Karnataka’s Belagavi district turned tragic after a dispute over food ended in a stabbing that left one man dead. The incident took place on the outskirts of Yaragatti town during a dinner hosted by a newlywed man, Abhishek Koppad, on his farmland.

The deceased, identified as Vinod Malashetti, aged 30, was allegedly killed by his friend Vitthal Harugopp following an argument over the number of chicken pieces served. According to police, the confrontation escalated rapidly and, in a fit of rage, Vitthal stabbed Vinod in the stomach. The injuries proved fatal, and Vinod reportedly died on the spot from severe bleeding.

Muragoda police visited the location and took the accused into custody. Superintendent of Police for Belagavi district, Bhimashankar Guled, confirmed that the investigation had established a quarrel over chicken pieces as the immediate cause of the violence. “Investigation revealed that there was an argument between them about serving chicken pieces. All were in an inebriated stage when murder took place. Accused apprehended,” Guled said.

In a similar incident that occured in May, two men assaulted a hotel owner in Kerala’s Kollam after he refused to serve parotta, which had reportedly sold out. The incident took place late at night at a tea stall in the town area.

Earlier this month, four men brutally assaulted a staffer at a Bengaluru cafe for refusing to provide an extra cup.

The incident occurred on July 2 evening at a popular coffee shop in Seshadripuram. Reportedly, the group of four men demanded an extra cup after buying some coffee. When the staffer politely declined and asked them to buy another coffee instead, the men attacked him.
