Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali were once the most loved actor-director duo in Bollywood. They used to create magic on-screen with their chemistry in films like Goliyon Ki Rasleela- Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat. These films had not only left the box office ringing but even managed to rake in awards. The partnership played a crucial role in establishing Ranveer’s career in Bollywood. But, while fans have been waiting to know about a new collaboration from the duo, an unexpected report on their bond has made headlines.
Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali had a conflict
According to a report by senior journalist, Subhash K Jha, Ranveer Singh allegedly had a fallout with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The conflict reportedly took place after the director didn’t offer the lead role in his upcoming film, Love And War, to Ranveer, who gave his best while working with him. Earlier speculations were doing rounds that the Befikre actor would feature as the main character in the project, considering his past work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, none of it happened.
The report claimed that Ranveer Singh, who celebrated his 40th birthday in a low-key style on July 6, 2025, had organised a small party for his close ones. However, the guest list did not include the Black filmmaker, which further fueled the rumours. The report claimed:
“On July 6, Ranveer Singh celebrated his 40th birthday with a very private get-together where only close friends were welcome. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who gave Ranveer the superstar status with Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, was not one of the invitees. The director and actor are no longer close friends.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali offered the second part of Love And War to Ranveer Singh?
The same report further alleged that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had offered Ranveer Singh to play the role of second lead in Love And War. For those unaware, the film features Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. However, the Bajirao Mastani actor said ‘no’ to the part which went to Vicky who grabbed the opportunity. However, there is no confirmation on the report from either side.
Ranveer Singh’s work front
Ranveer Singh was last seen as the main lead in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani alongside Alia Bhatt in 2023. Since then, the actor has yet to appear in a full-fledged role. But he reprised his role as ‘Sangam Bhalerao’ in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again for a short appearance in 2024. Ranveer Singh will be next seen playing a fierce role in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. The first look from the upcoming film was released on the occasion of the actor’s birthday on July 6, 2025. It also stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in key roles and is set to release on December 5, 2025
