Amid the soaring popularity of Squid Game 3, the Emmy-winning actor revealed his desire to work in Indian cinema, especially in Bollywood. This seems to be Jung-jae’s open call to Indian filmmakers.

In a virtual interview with ANI, Squid Game star Lee Jung Jae opened up about his admiration for Indian cinema, especially Bollywood. Amid this heartfelt admission, the actor left everyone surprised when he expressed his desire to collaborate with Indian creatives. This revelation is already being viewed as a sign of growing global synergy in entertainment. Lee Jung-Jae was quoted as saying:
“I would love to be a part of a Bollywood film if I was given the opportunity.”
Lee’s statement comes at a time when Korean content continues to enjoy a loyal following in India. Squid Game 3, which dropped on Netflix on June 27, 2025, is currently the second-most-watched show in India, following Panchayat 4.

Lee Jung-jae has been the face of Squid Game since the show’s pilot episode on Season 1. After the massive success of the first two seasons, returning to the set for the third and final season evoked a mixed range of emotions that the actor hadn’t anticipated.
Reflecting on his experience of stepping into the shoes of the iconic ‘Seong Go-hun’ for one last time, the role that defined his international career came with emotional weight. He shared with ANI:
“It was a day of mixed feelings when I put on that green tracksuit with my number 456 on it and I stepped onto the set again for the first time. I also felt the same way when I put back on the red-haired wig. I’ve worked in this industry for quite a long time, but I have never felt a rush of emotions like the way I experienced on the day when I came back to the sets of Squid Game.”

It didn’t take long for Squid Game 3 to top global charts since the day of its release, but it also left fans with their jaws on the floor. For those who haven’t watched it yet, spoiler alert! Squid Game 3 concludes with Gi-hun’s unexpected death, a choice director Hwang Dong-hyuk made to reflect the grim realities of society at present. Speaking about the success of the show, Jung-jae remarked:
“I did not expect this kind of success… I think the overall timing of the release of the show and the things that were happening around the world and how much of that was reflected in the characters was partly what led to its huge success.”
