Superman, the superheroic character, has a huge fan base all across the globe. Recently, James Gunn has brought back the DC Comics character for the second time to the big screens with the reboot of the Superman film series. The movie started with the DC superhero, ‘Superman’, who landed on the planet, Earth, from his native planet, Krypton. For the uninitiated, ‘Superman’ was the son of ‘Jor-EI’ and ‘Lara Lor-Van’, who had sent their infant son, ‘Kal-EI’, to Earth, thirty years ago. After landing on Earth, ‘Kal-El’ was adopted by human parents, ‘Jonathan’ and ‘Martha Kent’ and was raised as ‘Clark Kent’. In the 2025 film, David transcended from ‘Clark’ to ‘Superman’, the most powerful metahuman on Earth.
Clark was a reporter at the Daily Planet in Metropolis and was shown working alongside ‘Lois’ and ‘Jimmy’. The duo was in a relationship, and ‘Lois’ knew ‘Clark’s’ secret identity. However, ‘Lex’s’ entry made everything upside down, posing a threat to ‘Superman’. But, ‘Superman’, known for his superpowers, fought an epic battle and won it. James Gunn’s Superman ends with a twist
The entry of ‘Lex Luthor’, played by Nicholas, marked the beginning of anything and everything about his sinister plans to turn things hostile against the Man of Steel. It all began with a dark message from ‘Superman’s’ biological parents, which the antagonist tracked down in order to turn the world against ‘Superman’. He used it to convince the entire world that the superhero was planning to conquer Earth. This made people around him scared and angry at him.
Meanwhile, ‘Lex’ also convinced the government to let him imprison the Man of Steel. However, as panic spread, the antagonist created a pocket universe to capture ‘Superman’. Later, he also destroyed the pocket universe, creating a dangerous black hole crack through Earth, threatening Metropolis itself. Being the most powerful metahuman of Earth, ‘Superman’ broke the shackles of the pocket universe and also defeated ‘Ultraman’, a powerful clone of himself.
The Man of Steel also defeated ‘Angela Spica’, a.k.a. ‘The Engineer’, another villainous character who worked for ‘Lex’. Meanwhile, ‘Clark’s’ colleagues ‘Lois’ and ‘Jimmy’ and the team at Daily Planet exposed ‘Lex’s’ illegal activities, leading to his arrest. Amidst the chaos, the Justice Gang, a new metahuman alliance, involving ‘Green Lantern’, ‘Hawkgirl’, ‘Mister Terrific’, and ‘Metamorpho’, became successful in stopping a global war orchestrated by ‘Lex’. The superhero film ended with a warm kiss between ‘Superman’ and his lady love, ‘Lois’, mid-air.

James’s directorial, Superman, isn’t just a reboot; it’s the first step in a larger, interconnected DC Universe. The film featured two post-credit scenes. The first scene featured ‘Superman’ with his pet dog, ‘Krypto’, and the superhero was busy cuddling him in his arms. The end credits featured ‘Superman’ and ‘Mister Terrific’, played by Edi Gathegi. The duo got into a playful fight as they entered Metropolis post-catastrophe, ending with ‘Superman’ making a witty remark:
“I can be such a jerk sometimes.”
