Anu Malik and Daboo Malik are the sons of music director, Sardar Malik. However, over the years, they have been the topic of many conversations about professional and sibling rivalry. In a new interview, Daboo’s son, Amaal Malik, opened up about the same. During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Amaal accused Anu of stealing his father’s work, which led to his depression.
Amaal Malik accused Anu Malik of sabotaging his father, Daboo Malik
In a conversation with Siddharth, Amaal shared that when Daboo and Anu meet, you can’t separate them. However, their professional jealousy and dynamics sometimes get a little too hot. Amaal revealed that they have had issues on the professional front and was quoted as saying:
“Anu Malik was overly competitive with my father. He wanted to prove that he was the best composer in his family and often tried to sabotage my dad’s career. Every time my dad got a movie, he would go and snatch his work from the producers by offering to work for little money or even for free.”
In the same conversation, Amaal revealed that it was Anu Malik’s wrongdoings that made Amaal want to prove himself. He added that not just Anu but Sajid-Wajid also sabotaged his father, Daboo’s career. He revealed that they would play games and betray his father. He was quoted as saying:
“It was Anu Malik’s wrongdoings that made me want to prove myself. Not just Anu Malik, even Sajid-Wajid sabotaged my dad’s career. They would play games. My dad was betrayed by his own family and friends from the music industry. My dad was too naive to fight back.”
Anu Malik stole Murder’s music contract from Daboo Malik
In the same conversation, Amaal Malik revealed that his father, Daboo, was all set to sign the music contract of Murder with Mahesh Bhatt when Anu stole it from him. Amaal also claimed that it was not just this but several other projects that Anu had stolen from his father. Amaal shared how this sent his father into a state of depression at the age of 32. He was quoted as saying:
“I noted it all down in my soul. I was a kid. Things got imprinted. I started working at 16, driven solely by the desire to take revenge through my music. He saw a lot of lows in his life. He has worked on at least 70 films, but nobody ever invited him. He was often addressed as Anu Malik’s brother… He’s struggling. I just wanted to rip off the struggling tag from him. I just want to do something that people don’t address us as Anu Malik’s nephews, but introduce him as the uncle of Armaan and Amaal.”
Amaal further shared that Anu used his tactics on him as well. He revealed that he often jumps into the conversation when making announcements. However, he is glad that he at least respects him and tells him that he has done some tremendous work. The singer concluded by stating that the tragic rivalry between Daboo and Anu shaped Amaal’s bond with his singer brother Armaan as they decided never to become professional rivals.
