There are plenty of love songs out in the world, and that’s part of the reason why Wet Leg‘s Rhian Teasdale didn’t feel like she needed to add her own to the pile. At least, not until she found love herself.
“Love never comes to you when you’re looking for it,” she says. “It’s always when you least expect it.”
In today’s session, Teasdale joins us to talk about writing love songs for Wet Leg’s new album, moisturizer. It’s the English band’s follow-up to their self-titled debut album, which became a surprise breakout hit in 2022.
This time around, they’ve expanded. It’s not just Teasdale and her co-founder, Hester Chambers. There’s a whole band in the picture. Teasdale talks about how writing as a band and cutting their teeth on the festival circuit primed them for moisturizer.
Plus, she gushes over one of her more unconventional inspirations: English television presenter Davina McCall.
“She was kind of synonymous with the show,” Teasdale says. “Without Davina, there was no Big Brother.”
