A brutal killing rocked West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district late Thursday night, as Trinamool Congress block president Razzak Khan was shot and hacked to death in Bhangar’s Chaltaberiya region.
The attack occurred around 10 pm when Khan was ambushed near a canal while returning home from Bhangar Bazar to Maricha.
According to initial reports, the assailants first opened fire on Khan and then attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him grievously injured. The Kashipur police station team arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and began an investigation.
The area was cordoned off, and preliminary evidence was collected.
Trinamool MLA from Canning, Saukat Molla – who was known to be close to Khan – visited the spot soon after, expressing deep shock and anger over the murder.
The violent nature of the attack has sparked widespread outrage and panic in the local community, with many residents demanding swift justice and immediate arrests.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be officially confirmed, but the brutal nature of the attack has raised serious questions about law and order in the region.
