But, recently, the actor shared a lesser-known fact about his love story and revealed that he and his wife actually used to live together before making it official when live-in relationships weren’t so openly spoken about.
Ram Kapoor shares everyone thought his and Gautami’s marriage won’t last long
Ram Kapoor, who recently made headlines from his web series, Mistry, recently made an appearance on the YouTube channel of Farah Khan and revealed that he and his wife, Gautami, used to live together before tying the knot. He stated that they lived together for nearly 1.5 to 2 years, which made Farah congratulate Gautami for still marrying Ram.
On the other hand, Ram shared his side of the story and shared that all his friends, well-wishers and family members used to ask Gautami why she married him. It was because no one thought their marriage would last, but it continues to last to date, and Ram expressed with pride that he has been proving everyone wrong by staying married for more than 25 years. In his words:
“Mere dost, mere bhai log, mere parivaar wale…isko pooch rahe the tu kyun kar rahi hai isse shaadi? Nobody thought ki tikegi shaadi…Now, I am winning…I am proving everybody wrong…now, it’s 25 years…my friends thought that ours wouldn’t last for even two years. Jaise main isko jhelta hun, yeh bhi mujhe jhelti hai…shaadi is tit for tat…”

Ram Kapoor once sat down for an interview with the Humans Of Bombay. He discussed that despite working in a volatile industry like the entertainment world, he has managed to stay financially afloat by making the right financial investments. However, the Bade Achhe Lagte Hain actor revealed that things were not always the same for them because until a year after his wedding he lived off his wife’s money as he had no work. Sharing how one remembers that part of his life, Ram said:
“One year after my wedding, I had to live on Gautami’s income because I had no work. That nobody remembers. Gautami was doing Lipstick at that time. I was doing nothing. When I started, I started at Rs 1,500 per day for Doordarshan. Yes, that was my starting. You have to be prepared to start again.”

Ram Kapoor first came across Gautami Kapoor on the set of their show, Ghar Ek Mandir, where she played Ram’s sister-in-law and then wife. They gradually became friends and fell in love. Both the actors have contrasting personalities as Gautami is more reserved while Ram is more outgoing, but they have overcome it to be together. The actor proposed to Gautami at a party and they tied the knot on Valentine’s Day in 2003 and have two children, Sia and Aks.
