After making his mark with performances in Rocket Boys, Paatal Lok, and Berlin, Ishwak Singh returns to the screen in a role that brings him closer to the earth. In Mitti – Ek Nayi Pehchaan, premiering July 10 on Amazon MX Player, he plays a man who rediscovers his purpose and identity in the most unlikely of places, his own village.

Set in the heartland and shot entirely on location in a real village, the series portrays aspects of rural life both visually and emotionally. Ishwak plays a farmer, with the narrative exploring themes of reflection and rediscovery. The show touches on agriculture within a broader context of self-worth and personal choice.
“When you shoot in a real village, something shifts in you. The pace, the silence, the way people speak, even the way the wind moves , it’s all very grounding. I remember just sitting under a tree between shots, soaking in the air and the stillness. My character eventually finds peace in the land and I could feel that too. After the trailer dropped, a lot of agricultural entrepreneurs reached out to our director saying how deeply they resonated with the story. That meant a lot. It made me realise that this show isn’t just about farming, it’s about returning to what truly matters,” said Ishwak.
He added, “Mitti touches upon a very prominent topic about agriculture and the rural way of life being dependent on agricultural development. Our show aims at showcasing the journey of farmers and those in the villages whose lives depend on this very passionately. While struggles and challenges are highlighted, their love for their ‘Mitti’ is one of the strongest highlights of our show. It also focuses on where one’s heart truly lies, which is in their roots and where they come from.”
Mitti – Ek Nayi Pehchaan takes a different approach from conventional storytelling, focusing on stillness and purpose. For Ishwak, it’s a project that explores meaningful themes through a grounded narrative.
