Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu turned teacher for class on Thursday, delivering a full 45-minute Social Science class at a government school in Puttaparthi. The session was part of the state government’s Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) initiative.
Naidu’s lecture to Class 10 students at the Zilla Parishad High School in Kothacheruvu covered topics including conventional and non-conventional resources, fuel and power generation, patents, water resources, and the role of technology. During the visit, he also interacted with students, reviewed their progress cards, and offered motivational guidance, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence.
Joining the session was Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who attended the class as a student and addressed the gathering. Lokesh noted that over 2.3 crore people, including students, parents, teachers, officials, donors, and alumni, participated in the PTM across Andhra Pradesh, making it one of the largest such initiatives held in a single day.
The event marked the second major public outreach — held to encourage more parents to keep their children in schools and prevent dropouts — since the formation of the new alliance government.
At the event, the Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s flagship Thalliki Vandanam scheme, which provides Rs 15,000 annually to mothers who ensure their children attend school regularly.
“The more children you send to school, the more they will benefit in the future. Under the government’s flagship scheme, Thalliki Vandanam, every mother who sends her children to school will receive Rs 15,000 per child per year. Keep sending your children to school daily and make sure they don’t bunk,” Naidu said.
