Karan Johar has been in the limelight since 2024 for his massive weight loss. There have been constant rumours doing the rounds that the filmmaker has taken the weight loss drug, Ozempic, to drop the kilos. He has been clarifying since 2024 that he followed a healthy weight loss diet and regimen; however, netizens do not seem to agree. Now, recently, Karan’s pictures went viral, where netizens claimed that Karan shrank and blamed it on the Ozempic side effects.
Karan Johar’s looks extremely thin in his latest snap that went viral
A picture of Karan that was allegedly taken with Samay Raina went viral on social media. He had worn a grey-hued shirt, jeans, and netizens felt that he looked aged due to the side effects of Ozempic. Karan’s face looked shrivelled, drained out. One Redditor commented, “I don’t know if he is on Ozempic or not, but anti obesity drugs got approval in India( Wegovy, Mounjaro ) and are going to be rampant in the next few years.” Another Redditor commented, “Ozempic does have side effects, but those who overdo it end up looking like this. Plus, he is 50+ and severely underweight at this point.”
Another user also shared, “Lifelong body dysmorphia and then the sudden advent of new age medicines. Pretty simple, actually.” While a user commenting on Karan’s new look observed, “He was so nice earlier. Don’t know what his obsession with losing weight and looking like a malnutrition guy. People in their 80s and 90s look better than him. He’s still on Ozempic and found some other stuff.”
When Karan Johar reacted to using Ozempic for weight loss
Karan has been spotted at many social events, and it is hard not to look at his toned-down physique, as many before-and-after pictures surface on social media. It was in October 2024 when Karan himself passed a statement on the rumours of using Ozempic after Maheep Kapoor passed a comment on her Netflix Show, Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives. He had shared a screenshot of the tweet that spoke on how Maheep rightly called out people for using Ozempic for fast weight loss and driving it out of stock for people with diabetes. Hope she calls out Karan Johar too, the producer of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives. He reacted by commenting:
“Being healthy and eating well and reinventing the wheel of your own nutrition! Aur Ozempic ko mile credit (And the credit goes to Ozempic)?”
When Karan Johar revealed how he transformed
Karan had once done an Instagram Live session where he spoke about the details related to his weight loss sojourn and shared how he wanted to adopt a balanced lifestyle and focus on mental well-being, exercise and nutrition that did help him be in shape. He shared in his live session that he started discovering that he needed to correct his blood levels. Karan then focused on eating one meal a day to lose those extra kg, and also followed a strict diet. Karan had also revealed that apart from eating clean, he was also playing games such as paddleball and swimming to maintain his healthy weight. For those who do not know, it was in 2017 when Ozempic was first approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as it helped in Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
