Bollywood actress, Kajol is the daughter of yesteryear star, Tanuja. She has been in the industry for years and knows the pressure that star kids face to give their best performance. In the recent past, Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, was brutally trolled for his bad performance in his debut movie, Nadaaniyan next to Khushi Kapoor. The star kid will now be seen sharing screenspace with Kajol in Sarzameen. Kajol recently opened up about him and the star kids being trolled and shared what they need to do in such situations.

Kajol comments on Ibrahim Ali Khan being trolled for his debut performance in Nadaaniyaan

Kajol believes star kids do not get the space to grow and need to immediately prove their worth. She has been one of the most successful stars of the Hindi film industry, just like her mom, Tanuja, who ruled the screens in the 60s and 70s. Kajol’s dad, late, Shomu Mukherjee, was a moviemaker, so she knows the pressure that a star kid has to face. Well, Ibrahim, on the flip side, is ready for his second offering, Sarzameen, next to Kajol, who commented on his debut film being a flop and him getting trolled. She shared in an interview with the PTI:

“Reinvention” is the key for actors to evolve continuously. For actors, it’s necessary to understand that you have to unlearn everything that you have learnt earlier and keep doing new things, whatever they may be.”

Kajol shares how star kids navigate trolls and being prepared for the good and bad

Kajol and Ibrahim will be sharing screenspace for the first time in Sarzameen. She did agree that star kids are constantly judged on social media, and this has made the lives of debutants very difficult. As trolls do not see their background, and people have become less kind. However, she did praise the set of new stars to face adverse as well as good situations, but told them that they always need to discover themselves. Kajol shared:

“Trolls will criticise you whether you have parents who are well-known or not. But we listen to them a little more when they’re talking about somebody whose parents are well-known, maybe. We had that chance to grow; we were given that time, or maybe enough films, to grow and to become who we are. Today it’s almost like a do-or-die situation for them, and for this, they’re very well prepared. I have to give them that. But we can be a little kinder.”

Kajol agrees that the star kids’ longevity is not just related to movies

Kajol praised the fact that the new generation of stars look for long-term success and like to explore varied avenues, which is not just restricted to the acting domain. She did share that the meaning of the term longevity now is something else. Kajol remembered:

“So, my kind of longevity may not be there. But in this day and age, the great thing about all these actors is that they will keep coming up with different kinds of films, and they will do other things as well, along with it (acting). It won’t only be about movies for them.”

What are your views on Kajol speaking on Ibrahim Ali Khan’s performance in his debut movie, Nadaaniyan, not being appreciated?
