Apple, the tech giant behind iPhone and MacBook, has quietly made a major leadership announcement this week, which can potentially reshape the future of its operations. Indian-origin, Sabih Khan, who has worked as Apple’s executive for a long time, is set to take over as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO) by the end of July 2025. However, unlike any other major headline from the tech world, this news didn’t come out with a grand event or press conference, but it is a new change for both Apple and Sabih Khan.

Sabih Khan has a massive net worth in the millions

Sabih Khan is set to step into the role currently held by Jeff Williams, who is Apple’s COO since 2015 and a close aide to the company’s CEO Tim Cook. Jeff has already worked closely with Sabih Khan for nearly three decades and believes that he is the most talented operations executive on the planet. Apart from their association, it also reflects how Apple has trusted Sabih to lead its vast supply chain and operations network, which plays a vital role in delivering Apple’s signature products to different countries around the globe.

While Sabih Khan has kept most of his personal life away from the public, reports estimate that his net worth falls around 2.2 million USD owing to his long tenure and holdings in Apple stock. Although Apple does not confirm the exact net worth figure, his wealth is expected to include executive compensation, stock grants and bonuses from the tech giant, which is comparable to other executive position holders in Apple-like Jeff Williams, who holds shares worth 80 million USD.

From Singapore, Sabih shifted to the United States. Academically, he has pursued a dual degree in Economics and Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. He followed it with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Before making his way to Apple, Sabih Khan worked at GE Plastics, where he developed his skills as a technical lead and applications engineer. In 1995, he joined the procurement team of Apple and never looked back. Since then, he has become a key figure in Apple’s operations and managed different things including planning, procurement, manufacturing and logistics. In 2019, Tim promoted him to the position of Senior VP. He played a key role in keeping things afloat for the company during COVID-19 and US-China trade.

With Sabih Khan being set to take over the role of COO at Apple, it will be significant to see how he leads innovation, technology and supply chain in the company during the forthcoming years.
