Bobby Darling, was a popular face in the entertainment industry during the early 2000s, known for her bold personality and unique screen presence. She was seen playing significant roles in films like Page 3, Chalte Chalte and other reality shows like Bigg Boss. However, after fame, Bobby gradually stepped away from the limelight. Now, after several years, she recently gave an interview and opened up about the difficult experiences she faced in the industry, including being underpaid and mistreated by film producers.
Bobby Darling recalls how Sohail Khan’s producer mistreated her
Bobby Darling recently sat down for an interview with Siddharth Kannan and recalled working in the 2002 film, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, which starred Sohail Khan in the lead role and was produced by the actor and his friend, Bunty Walia. Bobby shared that her role was expanded after she was cast, and naturally, she asked for a higher payment in return. However, her request didn’t go down well with the co-producer, Bunty Walia. Recalling how he dismissed her in a hurtful manner, Bobby said:
“He said, ‘Tumhe role bhi de aur paise bhi? Kahan se aa jate hain?’”
The experience left her feeling humiliated and helpless. Despite this, Bobby said that she has a good working relationship with Sohail Khan and even shared a friendly bond with his brother and megastar, Salman Khan, who used to often visit them on sets. At the same time, the Dabangg actor invited Bobby Darling to a few parties at his home. Talking about her bond with Salman, Bobby said:
“Salman would come on the set. He would meet me so nicely. He would get pictures clicked. He was so humble, so nice. Sohail was nice, so down to earth.”
But even though she trusted Sohail, Bobby revealed that she was scared to talk with him or Salman Khan about Bunty. She feared that if she shared anything, it would cost her the role altogether. The actress felt bad when Bunty spoke to her rudely, she began to cry. Bobby wasn’t sure where she would go and what she would do if her role was completely chopped off from the film. As a result, she kept it to herself and accepted whatever payment she was given for her performance. Sharing how she was dealing with a financial crunch at that point, Bobby said:
“What will I eat? The role? I need food, and residence. How will I survive in Mumbai? I live in a chawl, where should I go? I need money for rent. I need to pay Rs 1700 rent for my chawl.”
