Priyanka Chopra was crowned Miss World in 2000 and made India proud on the global stage. With a career spanning over two decades, the Bollywood superstar has also made a name for herself in Hollywood. Priyanka has received global recognition for her acting and beauty. However, Suneel Darshan, the producer of one of her initial films, Andaaz, said that he had suggested to the actress to do something about the bridge of her nose. He had also once described Priyanka as not conventionally good-looking.
Suneel Darshan reveals he asked Priyanka Chopra to do something about her nose
Priyanka Chopra has often spoken openly about her nose surgery, which she claims was botched. The actress had stated in earlier interviews that she had sinus issues which required surgery. However, Priyanka has said that the surgeons made mistakes and she ended up looking completely different. The actress also revealed that she wanted to quit the film industry after this ‘botched’ surgery. But Suneel Chauhan, producer of her second film, Andaaz, said in an interview with Minutes of Masala that he had asked Priyanka to get her nose ‘fixed’.
Suneel said that before working on Andaaz with Priyanka, he had asked her to get a nose job. As a newbie in the film industry, the actress had agreed that it was overdue. Additionally, since Priyanka’s parents were good doctors, they got her nose ‘repaired’ immediately, stated the producer. However, in the interview, he also admitted that there is a risk in domestic procedures, and expressed that ‘there is perfection in imperfection’. Talking about Priyanka’s nose surgery, the producer said:
“Before I did Andaaz, I did tell her that she should do something about the bridge of her nose. She knew that that was due, and her father and her mother were such good doctors. It wasn’t an issue, they got it repaired immediately.”
When Suneel Darshan said that he wasn’t ‘wowed’ by Priyanka Chopra’s appearance
For his film Andaaz, Suneel Darshan was in search of a second lead actress who could pair well with Akshay Kumar and also match Lara Dutta. At that time, he was introduced to Priyanka Chopra, a newcomer who had been seen in only one film before. Suneel Darshan, in an interview with India Today, had revealed that he wasn’t very impressed with Priyanka’s appearance. However, he noticed her beautiful eyes and alluring voice.
Priyanka’s voice, especially, reminded him of the legendary actress, Rekha. Suneel also revealed that except for him none of the film’s team had faith in Priyanka, instead they were more supportive towards Lara. However, the producer was sure that it was as if Rekha was coming back through Priyanka. Suneel said:
“My first response was not wow. But later, she groomed herself – evolved is the right word. Fifteen minutes into the conversation, I observed her eyes and said to myself, ‘Iski aankhein kya kamaal hai, aur iski awaaz Rekha ki yaad dilati hai.”
