NEW DELHI: There has been a nearly 20% increase in toll collected – around Rs 21,000 crore – through FASTag on national and state highways in the first three months of the current financial year, compared to Rs 17,280 crore in the corresponding period of 2024-25, as per National Electronic Toll Collection data.Around 80% of the toll collection (around Rs 17,000 crore) has been made from NH users. The increase in toll collection is because more highway stretches have been brought under tolling, and revision in the user fee.Officials said though they expect the current trend of rise in toll collection will bring more revenue to NHAI and other such road owning agencies, it will depend on how many private car owners opt for the Annual Toll Pass, which the govt as announced recently. The toll pass will cost Rs 3,000 for crossing 200 toll plazas (counted as trips) and will be rolled out from Aug 15.
