Actress Mahhi Vij has found herself in the spotlight recently for speculations of her split from her husband, Jay Bhanushali. While neither of them has accepted nor rejected the rumours, Mahhi recently talked about her first-ever gig, which got her a paycheck. During her appearance on The Male Feminist podcast, the Balika Vadhu actress took a walk down memory lane, recalling her very first project in the entertainment industry, that, too, with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Mahhi Vij opens up on her first break with Sachin Tendulkar

Speaking to The Male Feminist, Mahhi Vij talked about her very first gig in the entertainment industry. The actress recalled that her debut gig was an advertisement with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, and it earned her a substantial paycheque for a newcomer at the time. Mahhi was quoted as saying:

“My first pay cheque was Rs 50,000, and it was a huge deal back then. I did an ad with Sachin Tendulkar and received Rs 50,000 for it.”

In the same conversation, Mahhi also spoke up about the rising interest of fans and trolls about her personal life, especially the buzz surrounding her marriage to actor and host Jay Bhanushali. The two, who tied the knot in 2010 and renewed their vows in a grand Las Vegas wedding in 2014, have been the subject of separation rumours after they stopped posting together on social media. When asked directly about it, Mahhi’s response was sharp. The actress said:

“Even if it is the case, why should I tell you? Are you my uncle? Will you pay my lawyer’s fee? Why do people make such a big deal out of somebody’s divorce or separation… Do you even know the truth? What do you know?”

Speaking up about the unnecessary judgment directed at her from people who don’t even know her, Mahhi pointed out the societal pressure surrounding women, especially those going through divorce or navigating the challenges of being a single mother. The actress highlighted how the internet keeps looking for drama and does not let celebrities live their lives as normal human beings. She remarked:

“Here, people look at single mothers and divorces very differently. They assume there’s going to be drama, that now it’ll turn into a big issue, that the two will start throwing mud at each other. I feel there’s a lot of pressure from society. Just live and let live.”

The couple won hearts when they adopted two children, Rajveer and Khushi, in 2017, and later welcomed their daughter Tara in 2019. Celebrated for their strong family values and endearing chemistry, they became fan favourites. However, their recent absence from each other’s social media has sparked speculation about a possible rift.
