    Julian McMahon Dies At 56: Fans And Stars Mourn The Actor Behind ‘Nip/Tuck’ And ‘Charmed’

    Julian McMahon, the Australian actor best known for his unforgettable roles in Charmed, Nip/Tuck, and the Fantastic Four films, has died. He passed away peacefully in Clearwater, Florida, on July 2, 2025, following a private battle with cancer. He was 56 years old. The announcement had stunned fans around the world, many of whom were unaware that he had been terminally ill. Tributes flooded social media, fans say he will always be remembered for his charm, sharp wit, and deep empathy.

    Julian McMahon’s death was confirmed by his wife, Kelly McMahon

    Julian’s wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed the news in a statement to Deadline. She informed that Julian passed away this week after a battle with cancer. She said:

    “He adored life, his work, his fans, and above all, his family. We ask that you give us privacy at this time of sorrow and ask all who cherished Julian to continue to find joy in life, as he did.”

    According to The Guardian and EW, McMahon had been battling cancer in private. Despite undergoing treatment in recent years, McMahon continued working when he could, this included a supporting role in Nicolas Cage’s indie film, The Surfer and a key part in Netflix’s The Residence.

    Tributes pour in from fans and co-stars for Julian McMahaon

    As news of his passing broke, tributes poured in across the globe. Fellow Charmed cast members and co-stars remembered him with deep emotion. Dick Wolf, the producer of FBI: Most Wanted, called McMahon’s death a shocking news in a statement on Friday, July 5. 

    Rose McGowan, who played ‘Paige Matthews’ on Charmed, shared an Instagram story expressing her grief. McMahon’s Nip/Tuck co-star Kelly Carlson reacted to the news in a video posted on her social media account. She remembered him as a good friend. His fellow Charmed star Holly Marie Combs also took to social media to express her shock and devastation, adding that she hoped he would find peace with their recently passed co-star, Shannon Doherty.


    Fans were devastated and shocked. Twitter was flooded with clips of his iconic moments, particularly his transformation scenes from Charmed, as well as emotionally devastating monologues from Nip/Tuck.

    Julian McMahon’s career and legacy

    McMahon was born on July 27, 1968, in Sydney. Julian Dana William McMahon was the son of former Australian Prime Minister William McMahon and socialite Lady Sonia McMahon.


    McMahon’s acting break came with a role in the Australian soap Home and Away in 1990. He joined NBC’s Another World in 1993 before taking on the dark, seductive role of ‘Cole Turner’ on Charmed (2000-2003). His portrayal of the conflicted half-demon made him a fan favourite and turned him into a pop culture icon of the early 2000s.

    However, it was Nip/Tuck (2003–2010) that cemented McMahon as a critically respected actor. Through ‘Dr. Christian Troy’  he, embodied the deeply flawed plastic surgeon who was controlled by his ego, vulnerability, and emotional damage.

    McMahon later portrayed the villainous ‘Victor Von Doom’ in Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel. He starred in projects including Premonition (2007), as well as Dick Wolf’s FBI: Most Wanted (2020-2022).


    Julian McMohan leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by generations. May his soul rest in peace.
