Kannada actress, Bhavana Ramanna is all set to start a new phase of her life. At the age of 40, Bhavana is pregnant with twin babies as a single woman. Yes, Bhavana conceived through IVF, and shared how her journey was full of ups and downs, but with the support of her family, she is able to walk the path smoothly. It is worth mentioning that in vitro fertilisation has made many women’s dreams of having a baby easy.
Bhavana Ramanna announced her pregnancy at the age of 40
For the unversed, in India, the legal age to try IVF treatment is from 20 to 50 years. At the age of 40, Bhavana felt the urge to embrace motherhood. On July 4, 2025, Bhavana took to her Instagram handle and posted two pictures flaunting her baby bump. She was dressed in an asymmetrical kurta paired with white trousers. Her hair was left open, with subtle makeup and a bindi.
Bhavana Ramanna revealed how clinics rejected her request to opt for IVF as a single woman, never married
Along with it, Bhavana shared her journey as a single woman who never got married. She revealed that the decision to embrace motherhood through assisted reproduction. She called it a new chapter and revealed that she never imagined it, but she is six months pregnant with twins. She wrote:
“New Chapter, A New Rhythm I never imagined I’d be saying this — but here I am, six months pregnant with twins, and filled with gratitude. In my 20s and 30s, motherhood wasn’t on my mind. But when I turned 40, the desire was undeniable. As a single woman, the road wasn’t easy — many IVF clinics rejected me outright.”
Bhavana further revealed how she met her doctor, Sushma, who helped her through the process without judgement. She thanked her family for staying with her in the difficult questionable decision of her life. She added:
“But then I met Dr. Sushma at Rainbow Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, who welcomed me with warmth and zero judgment. With her support, I conceived in my very first attempt. My father, siblings, and loved ones stood by me with pride and love. Some questioned my choice — but I knew in my heart: I was ready.”

Bhavana added that she knows her children won’t have a father, but they would grow up in a home filled with art, music, culture and unconditional love. And they would be raised by kind, confident people. She added:
“My children may not have a father, but they’ll grow up in a home filled with art, music, culture, and unconditional love. They’ll be raised to be kind, confident, and proud of where they come from. I didn’t choose this path to rebel — I chose it to honour my truth. If my story inspires even one woman to believe in herself, that’s enough. Soon, two little souls will call me Amma — and that is everything. Thank you, Dr. Sushma & Rainbow Hospital, for walking beside me.”
Bhavana Ramanna shared how things changed for a single woman seeking IVF
In an interview with The Times of India, Bhavana revealed that her path to pregnancy wasn’t an easy one. But once the legal and magical advancement changes for single women seeking IVF, she decided to hop on the path. She added that earlier laws didn’t support single women opting for motherhood, but this has changed over time.
