The debate over COVID-19 vaccine safety has resurfaced as Karnataka Chief Minister links jabs to heart attack deaths in Hassan district. The Health Ministry has rebutted these claims, citing an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) study that found no evidence linking vaccines to heart attacks. The ministry states that India’s vaccines are safe and effective, with extremely rare instances of serious side effects. The ICMR study attributes sudden deaths to factors like genetics, lifestyle, pre-existing conditions, and post-COVID complications. A separate ongoing study by AIIMS Delhi suggests genetic mutations may be behind unexplained sudden deaths. The BJP has dismissed the Congress’ statements as baseless, while Congress demands ICMR provide alternative explanations for the deaths.
