Recently, an American bride embraced and combined both these traditions to surprise her Indian groom at their intercultural wedding. Rachel Charity Brown left her fiance, Amar Chahal, spellbound when she walked down the aisle in her unique wedding attire.
American bride wore a white lehenga for her wedding
An artist and a social media influencer with over 120K followers, Rachel Charity Brown’s (now Rachel Chahal) bridal look went viral on Instagram. Rachel debuted her look in a reel where she first could be seen getting ready for the wedding with “Everybody wants to know what I would do if I wore an American wedding dress”. Then it cuts to the American bride, looking gorgeous in a white-toned lehenga with intricate lacework all over the skirt and the choli.
Rachel’s wedding attire was a surprise for her Indian fiance
Rachel’s groom, Amar Chahal, is an American of Indian descent, with roots in Punjab, India. In a reel from before their wedding, the couple can be seen in Punjab, where Rachel experienced her fiance’s culture for the first time. Women from Amar’s family styled her hair with traditional parande. She also wore a maangtika and a Punjabi salwar suit. Rachel and Amar then took beautiful photos in the mustard fields, surrounded by lovely yellow flowers. Even though this marked the first time Rachel wore an Indian attire, Amar was not expecting her to dress up in his culture’s bridal outfit for their wedding day.
Rachel shared another video on her Instagram from their wedding day where she walked down the aisle wearing a white lehenga. She has captioned the video with, “POV- You surprise your fiance by wearing a lehenga on your wedding day.” In the video, Amar can be seen getting emotional when he gets his first glimpse of his future wife in a lehenga. Combining both their cultures, Rachel wore a lehenga with lace work lace work with white sequins and beads all over the outfit. The gorgeous bride kept her hair open and paired the outfit with a white veil with intricate work on the borders. For jewellery, Rachel opted for a lovely kundan necklace with matching maangtika.

This unique wedding outfit became an instant hit among the netizens. Rachel’s comment section was flooded with people complimenting her and her attire. One Insta follower who personally knows the couple wrote, “The fact that Amar thought you were wearing an American dress, the sweetest surprise”. Another user penned down, “Now this is where you know the merging of two cultures is going to be SO deep and so rich, that if they were to have children, their children are going to be immersed in both their cultures. Not just one.” A lot of people also commented about the lehenga and said that they were now manifesting a similar dreamy wedding.
