Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan did not imagine even in their wildest dream that an intruder would enter their Satguru Sharan residence in Mumbai and make way into the room of their younger son, Jeh Ali Khan. Saif, the protective abba, like a real hero, fought the robber, Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad from Bangladesh, and suffered six injuries, even to the spine, while protecting his full family. Now, Kareena, after months of the knife attack incident, has spoken about how she has coped with the situation.

Kareena, for the first time, mustered the courage to speak about the attempted robbery that took place at her home and the scars it left on Saif and her two kids- Taimur and Jeh Ali Khan. Kareena sat down for a conversation with Barkha Dutt and shared that she would not like to burden her children with her stress. Kareena shared that she is still struggling with the situation and has not fully come to terms with the attack. She even said of hearing about such incidents in the US, but not in Mumbai. Bebo also shared feeling anxious for the first few months, but now the memory has been fading. In her words:
“I am still kind of struggling with what it does to see someone there in your child’s room. In Mumbai, you never really hear about such incidents. It is very common in the US. We have still not come to terms 100 per cent. At least I haven’t. I was very anxious for the first couple of months. It was very difficult to sleep and get back to the person with that kind of normalcy”.
Kareena Kapoor Khan opens up on how she has been dealing with the trauma
Saif walked like a lion in Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital in Bandra after being stabbed with a knife. Kareena, going ahead in the interview, shared that she did not want to live in fear for her kids, as it was wrong on her part to give them stress. Kareena shared that her younger son, Jeh, thinks that his dad, Saif, has been a ‘Batman or Iron Man’. She shared of hope that when her kids grow up, they will be a different kind of resilient as they have seen their dad being attacked and surely as a unit will be stronger. In her words:
“I don’t want to live in that fear for my children because that’s also wrong to put that stress onto them. So, it’s been a tough journey to manoeuvre from fear and anxiety to balancing the fact that I am a mother and I am also a wife. It was a combination of so much understanding that this is what I have to kind of deal with. I am just happy and thank God that we are safe”.
Saif Ali Khan had to undergo spinal as well as plastic surgeries. It was five days after the knife attack incident that Saif was discharged on January 21, 2025. The doctors at the Lilavati Hospital revealed that Saif was leaking spinal fluid when he was brought to the hospital and then had to undergo a five-hour-long surgery.
