In a shocking case from Bhopal’s Bajaria police station area, a man allegedly strangled his live-in partner during a heated argument and later confessed to the crime while under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred on Friday, June 27. The accused, identified as 32-year-old Sachin Rajput, had been living with 29-year-old Ritika Sen in a rented house in Gayatri Nagar for the past three and a half years. According to police, the couple got into a dispute that night, following which Sachin strangled Ritika to death.
After committing the murder, Sachin reportedly wrapped Ritika’s body in a bedsheet, tied it with a rope, and left it inside the house. He then left the scene and went to consume alcohol with a friend. During the drinking session, Sachin allegedly revealed that he had killed his partner. However, his friend, also under the influence, didn’t take the confession seriously.
It wasn’t until the next day, when the intoxication wore off, that Sachin repeated the story to the same friend. Realising the gravity of the situation, the friend immediately informed the police.
Acting on the tip-off, police arrested Sachin Rajput and, based on his inputs, recovered Ritika Sen’s decomposing body from the rented house on Monday evening. The body had started to decay due to the time elapsed since the murder.
Investigators confirmed that they have recovered key evidence from the crime scene and have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
