Abhishek Bachchan made his debut in the film industry 25 years ago on June 30, 2025. The heir of one of the most illustrious families in Bollywood was welcomed with open arms, and the actor didn’t waste any time before carving his own place in the cinema. Now, as the actor completes his silver jubilee in the industry, he has come forward to share his journey so far.

Abhishek Bachchan hopes he has made some improvement in the past 25 years

Abhishek Bachchan sat for an interview with Hindustan Times and shared his journey in the film industry. He revealed that as he looks back at his journey to date, he only hopes that he has improved. He added that as a person, he feels better equipped to handle certain situations now, and as an actor, he wants to keep trying to improve with every film and every opportunity that comes his way, and I hope I’ve managed to do that.

Abhishek Bachchan reflected on his debut film, Refugee and revealed how he got the film. He added that it only became possible because the film’s director, JP Dutta, saw him at an award show and approached him. He shared that he was eternally grateful to him for giving him his first chance in the film industry. He further recalled whether his first film was nerve-wracking and stated:

“Of course, anytime you do something for the first time, it’s terrifying, and it still is actually. First days are always something that gives a lot of butterflies. But obviously getting an opportunity to make your debut with Mr. JP Dutta- that there is a thing of great privilege and honour, and I was immensely nervous.”

In an interview with the Indian Express, Abhishek had previously shared how he got locked in the projector room with Kareena Kapoor Khan during the screening of Refugee. The actor revealed that after the premiere, there was a dinner and a party, and he drove back home with Sikandar at seven in the morning. He added that they stopped by Marine Drive and sat there just to take in the moment that his film was about to be released. However, he could not enjoy the film as much as he had to travel to Malani the next day. Nonetheless, the flight got cancelled, and what followed was something he remembers clearly to date. He stated:

“I had two more days in Mumbai. I got excited and called up Bebo. She said, ‘Let’s go to the theatres.’ So, we went to Gaiety Galaxy and Chandan Cinema, which, unfortunately, are no longer there. It was terribly exciting! We had to be locked in the projector room because the audience found out we were there. I still get gooseflesh when I think about it.”

Abhishek Bachchan was scared of doing a comedy film

Abhishek Bachchan has come a long way since his debut in the film industry. The actor has dabbled in different genres, finding what best serves him. However, during the interview with HT, when he was asked which genre he was most afraid to try, the actor responded and stated that it was comedy. Ironically, he has been a part of several comedy hits, including Housefull 3, Dostana, Happy New Year, and his latest release, Housefull 5. He stated:

“Comedy. I feel it’s the most demanding genre of the lot. Because there’s very little an actor can do to contribute to what’s already written on the page. We’re completely reliant on what’s written. In dramatic scenes, you can take a dramatic pause. If that beat is not written into your comedy, it becomes very difficult to make it into a comic moment. So comedy is something I was very scared to do.”
