I’ve been obsessing over the possible symbolism of the invitation, which is a kind of surreal object: A white fluted plate, inspired by one in the archive, with three eggs on it. These things we know to be true, that M. Dior was a gourmand and that eggs are a symbol of new beginnings. As JWA will be heading up RTW, men’s, and couture, maybe that explains the number of ouefs? BTW our own Nicole Phelps has shared the story of L’oeuf Christian Dior….
Update: The egg plate is a reissue from 1975, when Marc Bohan was at the helm of the hosue.
