Playing Natasha, a mysterious young woman who speaks only through sign language, Banita brought quiet strength and emotional depth to the quirky murder mystery. Banita’s role leaves a lasting impact precisely because of how much she says without saying a word.

But did you know she actually learned sign language from scratch for the role? In a candid and exclusive quote, Banita revealed what went into getting it right, and shared a few fun stories from the set too.
When asked how challenging it was to learn sign language and whether she still remembers it, Banita opened up about the experience, crediting the team effort behind it. She said, “I actually had quite a few scenes where I had to use sign language, and so did Boman Irani sir. In fact, all of us had moments where sign language was involved. We were really lucky to have a phenomenal coach on board—Sitaram ji. Honestly, without him, I don’t think any of us could have managed to pull it off convincingly. We used to train with him day and night. He was the most pleasant, warm, and lovely person to be around. I felt so safe and reassured knowing I was learning under his guidance. It’s entirely because of Sitaram ji that I was able to do justice to those scenes.”
Detective Sherdil is about billionaire Pankaj Bhatti (Boman Irani), who is found dead, setting off a storm of chaos over a twisted will and too many suspects under one roof. Enter Detective Sherdil (Diljit Dosanjh)—a flair-loving investigator who is equal parts charm and cunning. But as he digs deeper, it becomes clear that everyone’s hiding something… and the biggest clues might just come from the quietest character, Shanti Bhatti (Banita Sandhu).
