Vishnu Manchu’s movie, Kannappa has grabbed the audience’s attention with its jaw-dropping storytelling that was presented by a stellar cast. Written and led by Vishnu Manchu, produced by his dad, Mohan Babu and directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the movie’s second half has been the talk of the town. From the audience to critics, everyone remained hooked to the amazing plot and performance that the movie had to offer.

The same can be proved with the massive box office collection on Day 1 domestically. While early predictions hinted that it could actually beat Nani’s HIT 3, let’s have a look at whether the predictions were accurate.

Did Kannappa beat Nani’s HIT 3 with Day One collection at the box office?

Released on June 27, 2025, Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa left a mark on people’s minds. The early predictions stated that it could gross Rs. 17-20 crore net at the domestic box office, leaving everyone to raise a question whether it would surpass Nani-led HIT 3’s record with Day 1 box office collection. For the unversed, HIT 3 grossed Rs. 19 crore net on its very first day, while Kannappa reportedly earned Rs. 12-13 crore on day one. So, seemingly, the Day One box office collection couldn’t beat Nani’s HIT 3′s mark.

Predictions were there that while HIT 3 had grossed Rs. 19 crore, Kannappa could gross Rs. 17 crore, making it the fourth-biggest opening of this year. However, HIT 3 grossed Rs. 117 crore worldwide, marking Rs. 79 crore at the domestic box office. For Kannappa to be a hit, it would have to gross Rs. 150-200 crore in three weeks, given its Rs. 200 crore budget. So, on that scale, Kannappa might be far from beating Nani’s HIT 3, as it seems.

Kannappa’s plot revolves around a young hunter who began his journey as a non-believer of Shiva, but eventually became a devotee of him. So much so that he even offered his eyes in worship, leading him to earn blessings from Lord Shiva. The movie’s star cast features cameos by Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Mohanlal, while the movie showcases stellar performances by Kajal Aggarwal, Brahmanandam, R. Sarathkumar, and Preity Mukhundhan among others. Each of the actors gave their share of outstanding performances.

Talking about the salary scale, a report by DNA claimed Akshay was paid Rs. 6 crore, while Prabhas and Mohanlal didn’t take any salary for their roles in the movie, as claimed by Vishnu Manchu. Both Prabhas and Mohanlal had some important roles to play in Kannappa, but despite the same, they decided to work without charging any money for the same. For Akshay Kumar, it was his debut in the Telugu film industry. For the other cast members, the salary scale hasn’t been disclosed yet.
