The world-renowned Korean series Squid Game is back this week for its third and final season, premiering on Friday, June 27, at 3 a.m. ET / midnight PT on Netflix.
According to Forbes, Season 3 picks up after the explosive events of Season 2, where lead character Gi-hun led a rebellion that cost him several allies, including his closest friend, Jung-bae. Now grieving and at his lowest point, Gi-hun must face the deadly game once again.
Netflix announced that the new season will push remaining players into even riskier challenges. With higher stakes than ever, every choice comes with real consequences.
One of Season 2’s biggest twists came in Episode 7, when the Front Man was revealed to be none other than Player 001 — the mastermind behind the deadly games. Season 3 will explore the deepening conflict between Gi-hun and the Front Man as they prepare for a final showdown.
Unlike previous seasons, this final chapter includes only six episodes, making it the shortest season so far. Director Hwang Dong-Hyuk revealed he wrote Seasons 2 and 3 together but split them at a dramatic turning point near the end of Episode 7 in Season 2.
As reported by Forbes, Squid Game Season 3 will stream only on Netflix. Subscribers will require a paid subscription in order to watch the last season, as the service does not provide free trials anymore. Prices begin at $7.99/month with ads, and ad-free plans go from $17.99 to $24.99/month.
Creator Hwang has confirmed that the series will end with this being the show’s last season, concluding the story arc of Gi-hun and the Front Man’s deadly rivalry.
