Scarlett Johansson has nothing but love for her Jurassic World Rebirth co-star Jonathan Bailey.
Throughout the press tour for their upcoming feature in the latest Jurassic Park sequel, the two actors have shared a few smooches on the red carpet. In particular, Johansson and Bailey locked lips at the film’s London premiere on June 17 and its New York City premiere on Monday.
To put it lightly, photos of the two kisses swiftly went viral, which led Today host Craig Melvin to bring up the topic during Wednesday’s episode, noting that “he’s just so attractive.” The Eleanor the Great director agreed and defended their platonic kiss, responding, “Yeah, you said it.”
“He’s a lovable guy, what can I say?” Johansson quipped. “I don’t know, we’re friendly people.”
When asked if she was surprised by the internet’s reaction to the photos of them, she said, “Nothing surprises me, you know what I mean?” Johansson added, “Nothing surprises me these days. But yeah, I’ve got a lot of love to give, what can I say?”
Later in the Today segment, the actress brought out a baby dinosaur animatronic, Delores, and asked Melvin to give her a kiss himself.
Throughout her Jurassic World Rebirth press tour, Johansson has been candid in expressing her love for the franchise. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said it feels “unbelievable” to now be involved in the franchise and has “been trying to get into a Jurassic movie for, I don’t know, 15 years or something.”
“When I first heard that there was a new Jurassic movie coming, that it was written with a female lead who was the age that I could fit into, and that it was happening during a time period that I could shoot, it was particularly surreal,” Johansson said. “I was actually in the middle of making Eleanor — we were filming it at the time — so there was a lot happening at the time. I had to compartmentalize my nervous excitement for the job in front of me while also focusing on making it work. I would have these really geeked out, fangirl moments and then be, like, ‘OK, put that away for a second.’”
